Union County Public Library

I mean, it's a library, you know? And what could be so special about this one here in Union County, right? Access to fast internet is a necessity for most anyone now. This is the way people pay their bills. They do their classes. They take care of their family. They touch base with people. I mean, just basic life at this point requires good internet.

We are definitely a community hub. While we're not open, you can sit in our parking lot. You can sit on our bench. You can sit in our staff parking, whatever you want to do, and use our Wi-Fi and do the thing you should need to do. While we're open, you can come in and sit in our computer lab if you do not have anything to use. You can use that, or you can bring your own devices, and sit around all of our tables in our hospitality room, and enjoy the Wi-Fi for free.

And of course, while internet access is huge, there's a whole lot more to this library than just internet access. We are just here to serve people. We want to help people. There's a lot of underutilized services that we have. People are not aware that we notarize. We send faxes. We scan documents. We have microfilm. If you're looking for an old article in the newspaper, we have a genealogy section. And I think the most underutilized is just come ask us. If we don't know, our job is to find out for you.

Part of what makes the Union County Public Library so special, according to Marlene, is that it's properly funded. The facility, many expansions and repairs to the facility, as well as books and other materials are all made possible through SPLOST funds. Just another tool in the toolbox where citizens can benefit from some of those services that they all want and expect without having to reach into their pocket and pay more on their property taxes.
