Union County Sports Center

So how can this silly little sport of pickleball make lives so much better in Union County? Every great community just absolutely has to have pickleball courts these days. So here at the Union County Sports Center, there are eight brand new courts to meet the growing pickleball demand.

Now, look, don't tell the pickleballers I said this, but there's actually a whole lot more to this complex than pickleball. Just across the parking lot sits this incredible new sports facility. It holds several gyms that have been an enormous hit to residents of Union County. Everybody uses them. They use them for exercise. They use them for basketball. Volleyball programs started using the gym, so we're just very excited to have these here right in town. Easy to get to, easy access, have dance classes. They can do anything in here.

And while residents of all ages love the Sports Center, the focus is on Union County Kids. The kids are our feature, and we've got to be careful and make sure that we look after them and take care of them. Our number of kids using basketball, football, all the recreation sports has probably doubled, if not more than doubled. And we're running out of space already. So we're excited that we're able to build an additional gym.

But we're not just playing on this property, we're also going to vote here. The next election facility that's next door to this is brand new. We're excited when the new elections begin in 2024. We'll be able to have a lot of people in the community voting right there.

It's something we could not consider ever doing unless we had SPLOST special purpose local option sales tax funding.
